This lovely Washington home called for a mingling of modern and traditional styles. Our mission was to use staging in order to emphasize both the classic charm and fresh updates offered by the property.

In the formal living and dining rooms, we selected furniture with clean, classical lines and a transitional look to compliment the original architectural elements, such as the stunning archways, quaint built-in bookshelves, and a sprawling hearth. A number of modern sculptural and decorative pieces in neutral tones were incorporated to fill the various surfaces without overwhelming the eye. Warm, comfortable fabrics and natural wood textures were then layered in to evoke a sense of calm luxury in the spaces.

With a good deal of modern updating through the remainder of the home, a more casual and contemporary approach was taken. Stylish mid-century and modern furniture paired with fun pops of color created distinctive bedrooms on each floor, and a relaxed lower level hangout space. We chose lighter wood and glass elements to highlight the sun-filled breakfast room and reflect the lush greenery of the backyard.

Our harmonious design plan resulted in an inviting and memorable walkthrough, and the home sold within days of going on the market. Mission accomplished!
