Insights from Tom
“For this staging, I drew a lot of inspiration from the house itself, with a special focus on the mirrored living and family rooms on the first floor. Given their similar sizes and layouts, my goal was to create a contrast between the more formal living room and the casual family room, while ensuring both spaces remained inviting and stylish.
In the living room, the beautiful exposed beam ceiling inspired me to emphasize the rustic element with rich wood textures. To enhance the space further, I incorporated gold accents through modern art and furniture. My favorite piece in the house is the Safavieh console table. Its simple design, featuring mostly glass with one wooden shelf, creates the illusion of a single beam floating down from the ceiling.
For the family room, I opted for a cozy, playful mid-century style, using wood pieces to complement the fireplace mantle. Since this room opens directly onto a lovely rear deck, I aimed to bring the outdoors in by incorporating graphic nature art and plenty of bright greenery. I’m thrilled with how the design for both rooms—and the entire house—turned out. Hearing that the client loved it too is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a designer!”
